Previous Week : A good recovery on the last trading day helped the indices to close with an optimistic note Equity markets again fell during the previous week on continuous profit booking. Buying supports at the lower levels however helped both the indices to restrict sharper losses. The week started with a positive undertone, however, could not sustain gains and fell on the rest of the days of the week. A good recovery on the last trading day from the days low helped the indices to close with an optimistic note.
    On a week-on-week basis, the Sensex lost ~162 points or 0.8% to close at 20006.90 while the Nifty fell by 50 points or 0.8% to finish at 6017.70
            Food inflation that came during the previous week meanwhile continued to remain at the higher level
Week Ahead : Nifty is likely to trade in a broad range of 5900- 6200 in the short to medium term
The Federal Reserve's decision on monetary easing at its meeting next week holds the key to emerging markets including India. Back home the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will hold its next quarterly monetary policy review on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. It is widely speculated that the RBI will hike the key lending and borrowing rates by 0.25% each at its next policy review. Rate hikes by the RBI have a direct impact on interest rates offered by banks on loans to Indian companies. Investors will also closely watch the second quarter results by India Inc which will run till the second week of November.
    The results announced so far have been good. Reliance Industries,car major Maruti Suzuki, Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries and Suzlon Energy are due to report          earnings on Saturday, October 30, 2010. Gail (India) will announce Q2 results on Wednesday, November 3, 2010
The liquidity in secondary equity markets in the immediate short term could increase as Coal India begins to refund excess subscriptions received towards its initial public offering
    The IPO of Coal India IPO was over subscribed more than 15 times
    The Nifty is likely to trade in a broad range of 5900- 6200 in the short to medium term
